Transforming Puerto Rico

The Making of Our Street Ministry

After spending a month in Texas, the founders and pastors of Dream Center Esperanza have returned to serve with our Ministerio de la Calle y Ancianos (Street and Elderly Ministry). This incredible ministry is dedicated to showing love and compassion to those who have been marginalized and deemed unlovable. Each week, a team of dedicated volunteers take to the streets to provide food, companionship, and a sense of belonging to men and women experiencing homelessness. We believe in the power of human connection and strive to make a difference in their lives by not only addressing their physical needs but also by offering emotional and spiritual support and genuine care. Let me share with you how we make a difference!

Every week, Dream Center Esperanza is incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated group of individuals who selflessly and generously volunteer their time to cook delicious, nutritious meals for 60-80 people. Their act of kindness and compassion is truly a blessing that brings warmth and nourishment to those in need. These incredible individuals find immense joy in serving behind the scenes, knowing that their efforts make a significant impact on the lives of others. Without their unwavering support and dedication, our ministry would not be possible. Their commitment to making a difference in the lives of the marginalized and deemed unlovable is awe-inspiring, and we are truly grateful for their invaluable contribution.

On Thursdays at 4PM, our team gathers to load up our truck with essential supplies such as food, cold drinks, snacks, hygiene products, and clothes. Before we set out, we take a moment to come together in prayer. This is the heart and soul of our mission. We firmly believe in the power of prayer and in the love that Jesus has for each person we encounter. It is our mission to show that love in action. Once we’ve prayed, our team splits into two groups.

Team one focuses on the Ministerio de la Calle, where we deliver food to those living on the streets. Following a regular route, we make multiple stops, stepping out of our vehicles to serve and pray. Dream Center Esperanza is well-known in the community, and it’s heartwarming to be greeted by our friends with big smiles!

Meanwhile, team two focuses on the Ministerio de los Ancianos, delivering food to elderly individuals who are disabled and unable to care for themselves. We have a list of elderly individuals who we visit weekly, bringing them a hot, prepared meal. During our visits, which last about 15 minutes, we engage in conversation, share laughter, offer prayers, and sometimes even sing old hymns together.

Afterwards, both teams come together again to share their experiences and offer a prayer of thanksgiving for all that the Lord has done. Every Thursday is a mix of highs and lows, but we are always grateful for the opportunity to serve our beautiful community.

Because of your incredible support, we are able to make a significant impact in the lives of men and women who are experiencing the harsh realities of homelessness. Through your generosity, we can provide them with prayer, warm meals, and the support they need to transform their lives. Additionally, your donations enable us to extend love and care to disabled elderly individuals who often feel forgotten and isolated. This task may be challenging, but it is seen as a true blessing by everyone involved. By making a donation of $35, $50, or $100, you will play a vital role in creating a powerful surge of hope, compassion, and long-lasting change. Together, let’s join hands and help someone transform from a state of hopelessness to a place of HOPE, where they can believe in a brighter future filled with love, support, and endless possibilities. Thank you for your unwavering support.
